Chapter 17. In the Spirit in the USA

Today April 2026 has already begun. I was travelling along the California coast.
And my favourite place is Manhattan Beach, but this time I didn’t like it much. A
great many strange people had appeared there who have no place there, but for
some reason they were there. And I set off farther in the direction of Newport
Beach. This is Orange County, Balboa Beach is there. And I looked at the people,
what sort are there. I looked at what was even being highlighted for me. And the
first thing I took note of is that the real Americans, the neat, tidy ones, like in the
films before 2005 — they’re all these kind, bright families, bright children — all
of this, it has remained and it exists. And it’s as if someone deliberately arranged
it so as to set out a heap of traps for society, so that it would decay, degrade, and
self-destruct. And it’s as if these Americans, the ones who are initiated, who are
bright, they’re as if in the know. That is, they’re all for traditional family values, no
one has tattoos, no one uses anything forbidden. They all listen to noble music,
American classics and something soulful, something decent. This is what I saw.

And the way they’re dressed: all the clothing fitted to the figure, nothing
oversized. I saw their souls, what they’re like, and these are wonderful people.
Like in the films — I admired, I delighted in such people when I watched films
of the 90s. It’s clear that people come from various strata of society. That’s clear.
But all the same, before, the majority were like this. Recall the year 1990: people
in suits, in Burberry trench coats, with proper hairstyles, old men like that in
glasses, as in the film “Meet Joe Black.” That’s the kind of old men there were,
billionaire men. Recall what kind of people there were in “Meet Joe Black.” What
the girl was like, the one studying medicine. And recall my favourite film — the
comedy “Weekend at Bernie’s,” both parts. What kind of people there were, how
they looked, those two boys who worked at the company, found an error, and
then wanted to show it all to their boss Bernie. And how one of the boys fell in
love with a girl, what an interesting girl she was. And how this boy took her to
visit his place, to his parents, and what kind of renovation the parents had, what
the parents were like. That is, before, there was an America like that, and I love
it very much. And I was very happy to see that they exist. They’re all just hiding,
scattering, but they’ve all been preserved. I was simply worried that in these
5 years no such people were left. But no, they’ve all remained. They’ve all run off
to various other states and cities, but they’ve all remained.
