— So what do you need for happiness, really? What do you want, tell me. Describe it.
— There’s a short from “Love, Death & Robots” on Netflix, an animated series, there’s an episode called “Zima Blue”, and that’s what I want.
And I was very skeptical about this. Because Netflix, you understand, isn’t very good these days. Everything is filmed from the wrong angle, a lot of propaganda. Plus I know that people from not very good frequencies usually prefer this series. But since it’s still my acquaintance, and if he’s my acquaintance then there must be something bright in him, out of respect I naturally watched this short. And I was shocked, and I wrote to him:
— Are you aware that I actually showed up now and wrote to you precisely to tell you this? That this is exactly what you need to do.
And imagine how unusual this coincidence was: even before I told him about it, he had already started to feel it, to want it, to desire it. You can watch that short. In a few words, what’s the essence? What did my acquaintance mean? Let’s use his example rather than the episode itself. That you’ve toiled, worked, achieved something, gained something, grown up, acquired many things. But in reality, happiness for you is to return to that original self you were at the beginning, ordinary and simple, where you started from — that is happiness, and that, in the end, is the real outcome. You know, a long time ago when I was small, I described all the social worlds, and I said that there are worlds from one to nine, figuratively speaking, and all from the first world to the ninth — they all compete with each other over who has more money, who has the more expensive sweater. And the ninth world is like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, piles of brands, you’re this kind of star. And people from the second, third, fifth, sixth world all dream of reaching that ninth one. And I always explained to all those people from the first through the ninth level that there is also a tenth, eleventh, twelfth world — but you don’t see those people, you don’t see that world. Because, I said, the rules there are different. That is, the people there are on a higher level than nine, but they would be ashamed to buy a Rolls-Royce or a pink sports car, and they don’t dress very flashy.
