And what is the soul, you know? It is when you may know the recipe for every dish, but at the same time you also taste it, and not like a robot, you trust your feelings, you understand that a little bit of something should not be added, and a little bit more of something else should be, and that is the code of the soul. There must be that little bit from nature, and it is not written into recipes. Do you know why? Because this “little bit” belongs to today, it is elusive, like the leaves on the trees that bloom and fall every hour. That is, something blossoms, something falls away, but no matter how much you count, each day will bring a new number, each hour a new number. That is right. And there are people who, like robots, with the mind have learned to carry everything out precisely, and perhaps somewhere this soul is not needed. But I just want to emphasize that such a person is still not complete. Because any “dish,” in quotation marks — I am no longer talking about food — any “dish” that he prepares will be bland. It may be visually beautiful, and everyone may go wow, but it will feel as if everything is undersalted. And is that really good? And I noticed this from childhood, that the uniqueness of my paintings... And I admit honestly, I cannot paint, seriously, I know what it means to be a God-given natural artist, I do not have that gift. Perhaps so that I would not get distracted, but I do not have such a gift. And even when I painted pictures, even when I rearranged furniture in my apartment or in a friend’s apartment, even when I could give advice and say: Listen, better move your hair to the other side somehow, make a fringe, a parting — after that people experienced luck and miracles, and so did I. What is that? A code, an algorithm? Fine. Let’s suppose. But there are another point.
That is, imagine if right now we find ourselves on a large piece of land, well let’s say, we end up in a small town. For some reason Napa came to mind, the town in America where they make wine, I just remember it, I often recall that town. So imagine, we arrive in such a town. A town of this kind: a central square, like a square, imagine a square with a park in the middle, with a fountain — figuratively, in fact there wasn’t a fountain, but let’s imagine it this way. Around this park cars are parked, and then on the other side of the street also in a square are houses with cafés, little restaurants, shops, beauty salons. And so this is a little square, a little district, a central plaza.
