— Fine. Okay. But listen, I’m ready. I understand what needs to be done. I’m
ready to take the employee back — let him lie, let him steal, let him say nasty
things. I’d rather train on him than wait for such trials from other people,
from those close to me. I wouldn’t want this to happen with anyone else.
Since there’s already this whole history with him, I already understand this
person somehow. And if you say the demon has left him, then it should be
easier. Let’s do it; I’ll bring him back and take this exam. I’ll work on myself.
— He won’t return to work.
— What do you mean, he won’t return? Did he find another job or something?
— No, he just feels like he is 50/50 right now, at a crossroads. He is having
his own internal struggle with himself in terms of setting things straight —
what is good, what is bad, what he wants. This employee used to feel that
power when the demon possessed him. He could argue and fight, but now he
doesn’t have that power. And he is afraid of you.
So, the aliens tell me that the employee is afraid of me. He is afraid that if I
bring him back to work, I will interrogate him again, ask a bunch of unpleasant
direct questions to uncover what he did wrong before, remind him of all the
bad things he’s done, and essentially, just peck him to death. He is afraid
that I will demand truth and justice, that I will ask questions. He feels that
something has shifted inside him; he no longer has the strength he once had
to manipulate, to wage war, or to defend himself — he simply lacks the power.
And they say:
— And if you write to him or call him, he will refuse to communicate
with you, see you, or work with you at all, — the aliens tell me.
— Alright, you know everything, you can do anything, — I say to the voice.
— Come on, tell me what I need to say to him so that he returns to work.
You can help me, can’t you?
— It will be painful.
— Fine. Since these are exams and this is an unavoidable problem with me,
well, let it be painful.
— He will make it very painful for you again.
