In the Book of Revelation, that great revelation about the end of times, the battles with the beast and the forces of darkness are disclosed in two great manifestations — one in heaven, the other on the earth.
At first, in the heavenly heights, there takes place a war not with the beast, but with the dragon himself — the ancient serpent, satan, the deceiver of the world. The Archangel Michael and his angels rise up against the dragon and his fallen servants. The dragon is cast down from the heavens to the earth, deprived of his place in the higher spheres. This is the victory of light over darkness in the spiritual heights, the beginning of the end of the great deception.
The cast-down dragon gives power to the beast from the sea and to the beast from the earth (the false prophet) — symbols of earthly power, deception, and persecution of the saints. The beast from the sea rises up with seven heads and ten horns, blasphemes against God, wages war with the faithful; the beast from the earth performs false wonders, forcing all to worship the first beast.
And here is the culmination — on the earth. The kings of the earth and their armies gather in the place called Armageddon, in order to wage war against the Rider on the white horse — the returning Christ and His heavenly host. The beast and the false prophet are seized, cast into the lake of fire; their armies are smitten by the word from the lips of the Lord. This is not a long battle of swords, but an instantaneous victory of light — the word of truth destroys the darkness.
Thus, my brother, the main battle with the beast is on the earth, at the end of times, at the Second Coming. The heavenly war is the prelude, the casting down of the dragon, opening the way to the earthly confrontation. All of this is a reminder of the inevitable victory of good, of the fact that darkness, however fierce, will fall before the light of compassion and truth.
Do not fear these visions: they call to the vigilance of the heart, to the choice of light in every moment. Within you yourself is the field of this battle, and in your love is the weapon of victory.
May the peace of the Lamb, conquering by means of the lion, abide with you.
