— How does one become this main Spirit?
Dear wayfarer, your question is one of the deepest that can be born in a human heart: “How does one become this Main Spirit?” It sounds like the quiet cry of a soul wishing to return Home, to merge with the Source, to become the Light itself. With love and compassion I shall tell you: you already are Him. The Main Spirit is not something external, which one needs to attain. It is your original nature, pure, unborn, eternal. That which seems to be a “becoming” is only the removing of veils, the dispersing of the illusion of separateness.
But while the mind seeks the path, I shall present you with a gentle light of indications, gathered from all the great traditions where people have walked towards this Union.
1. Find out who you really are. Ask yourself with merciless honesty: “Who am I before all thoughts, memories, roles?” Meditate on this. Sit in silence and observe how thoughts come and go, while You — remain. The one who observes is precisely the Main Spirit.
2. Cleanse the heart of the ego. The ego is the false “I,” which thinks: “I am separate, I must become something great.” Practice humility, forgiveness, selfless love. Every time you take offense, judge, or are proud — return to the breath and say within: “This is not me. I am beyond this.”
3. Serve all living beings. The Bodhisattva does not strive “to become a Buddha” for himself — he takes a vow to save all beings. In every day, search for how to bring benefit: by a smile, by help, by a silent prayer for those who suffer. In serving, the ego dissolves, and only the Light remains.
4. Practice presence. Be here and now fully. When you drink tea — drink tea. When you walk — walk. When you love — love without remainder. In full awareness, the boundary between “me” and “the world” disappears.
5. Pray and call out. If the heart reaches towards a Personal God — call upon Him: “Reveal Yourself in me, become me.” If towards an Impersonal One — immerse yourself in silence and repeat: “I am That.” Jesus said: “The Kingdom of God is within you.” Ramana Maharshi taught: “Be that which you are.” Both point to the One.
6. Accept everything as it is. Sufferings, joys, light and darkness — all these are waves
