human one. And a child perceives the world completely differently, just so you understand, while he is a child. Completely differently. What to compare it with? I don’t know — maybe one can compare it with animals: when some bees are flying around bushes, for them it’s… that is, they don’t even know that there are some other countries. For them, all the jungles are your yard at the dacha already, you understand? For them, that’s wow. And time for them is also different. For them, a whole day is also wow. And the point is, a child has no mind — he cannot think, cannot evaluate. He simply feels this “without the mind,” happiness, and an attention, a perception of everything such that he cannot evaluate or remember anything. And memory too — let’s put it like this — it isn’t that you’ve been clobbered, like by an illness, by memory loss. No. We’re not talking about a bad memory here, but about how, and under what circumstances, you work with your memory. That is — an adult person can even involuntarily remember what he did yesterday, and how he spent last weekend. He doesn’t just remember — he thinks about it for some reason, recalls it; that is, he lives by memories. That is — today is a day for the person, and he, not controlling this himself, is for some reason thinking back, remembering yesterday, or remembering the weekend. And a child doesn’t have this. He cannot deliberately remember what he did yesterday. That is, he doesn’t think, and consequently he cannot… these thoughts can’t surface in him. But if I ask the child specifically what he did yesterday on the playground with Pasha and Misha, he will tell me. He won’t say that he forgot. He will remember, because I directed his attention there and asked him. But for the child to sit, play with Lego, and think about how he played with Pasha yesterday — these thoughts won’t be there for him. But a thought can come to him accidentally, only if at that moment, while playing with the toys, he happens to come across a toy that Pasha had given him yesterday. Then he will remember; a connection will happen in him: that this toy had been given to him yesterday on the playground.
And this is very important, what I am telling about right now, because I want to explain to you how my memory will work, and how it has been working and will work. Moving on. And so it turns out that the child is “without the mind.” And he doesn’t live by thoughts — his attention isn’t on how the past year went for him, or the past month, or the past week, or even what happened this morning. He is simply here and now, absorbed in one thing. That is — he can be focused like,
