manifesting. After all, he is learning to become a person, so that his mind will switch on. And it begins to manifest in different children at different ages. But I am telling about the general state of the child — specifically, the state. It ends in some at 5 years old, in some at 7, 10, or 15 years old, and in some it persists even at 20. But that’s not what we’re talking about right now. I am specifically talking about this state. It is lost in each person at different times, at different ages.

And so this child, you understand — if he is in a restaurant with his parents, he doesn’t have the sense of the aunties or uncles looking at him. He doesn’t think about this. He doesn’t even know what he is dressed in. He doesn’t have, because of this, the anxiety, the evaluation of people and of himself, of how he looks and how he is dressed, of what they will say about him — he doesn’t care. He doesn’t order food that people will look at and evaluate him for. That is — he is not yet the hostage of all these evaluations, of people’s minds. He is still “without the mind,” and he is in the world “without the mind.” And it is only people of the mind who are eternally strained by their own minds and by the evaluation of one another — but he is still outside of this. And that is why he can look absurd, can dress however he wants. He may think to take off his T-shirt — and the parents will say: “You can’t. You’re in a restaurant, don’t take off your T-shirt here.” And he will say: “I’m hot.” And he takes off his T-shirt, and he doesn’t care about the rest. And for this child, when he goes to the restaurant with his parents, and then when he returns home, all of this is a huge world for him — but a world, again, “without the mind.” And, you understand, here the very essence is this: the parents are his mind. That is — they are his mind, until he has a mind of his own. And so, it turns out, they fulfill this function: thinking for him, controlling, planning — which is why he is “without the mind.” And they brought him to this restaurant. Do you think that, together with his parents, he was worrying whether they would make it to this restaurant in time? No, he doesn’t have such thoughts. He doesn’t have thoughts about whether there will be enough money to pay the bill. He doesn’t have thoughts about how to get to this restaurant. And likewise, when he is going back from the restaurant, he doesn’t think about what other tasks will be there tomorrow — and he has no noise in his head about how the meeting at the restaurant went. At that moment, he is playing with some door handle of the car he is going in with his parents, and trying, in a scattered way,
