that’s it… I understood it all. I remembered and realized what keeps a person
in the social mass, and how to free oneself from it. It’s interesting — right now I
am speaking, and I hear myself so volumetric. And I am clearly mumbling notes
under my breath. By now I’ve more or less gathered my thoughts. But as I was
driving home from the concert, I wanted to simply take and say that’s it — the
eleventh volume of the novel “Alternative History” is finished here. But since
I’ve gathered my thoughts a little now, I am giving these explanations, so that
there would be at least some clarity for you, the reader, who walked this whole
long path from the first to the eleventh volume. And, of course, I’ll try, in words,
in human language, to express this, to explain it.
In essence, as it were, that’s it — Alexandr Korol, his writing career, all of this
is over. That’s it — the end! The finale! That is, I have to simply leave all of this
behind. And that’s it. And start a new life from a blank slate. But a life from a
blank slate — what kind? That is — I cannot call anyone, write to anyone, I won’t
have anyone’s contacts. I won’t have access to the messengers and the social
networks, or to anything: not to work, not to money, not to anything. Well —
simply from scratch. Like an alien who appeared and everything is from scratch.
But these are words — it won’t be that literal, of course, so they shouldn’t be taken
literally. This is one of the reflections. There will be several variants of reflections
right now. One of them, probably, will happen in reality afterwards.
Let’s say — alright. So the novel is over, my path is over. And I will start a life from
a blank slate, from scratch — simply disappear and appear again, and I cannot
appear in the old. I will already be new. With a clean new phone, in which I will
be looking up some songs again, to make playlists for myself — I cannot go back
to the old ones. I’ll be writing some notes for myself. I’ll get myself a notebook
with a pen and will be writing a list — what I want, a plan for what I want to do.
When to wake up, when to go to sleep, what to do, where to head next. And in my
life, possibly, new people will be appearing, new acquaintances will be appearing,
where I am a new person. Completely new. Not a writer. Completely from scratch.
And then I started reflecting — what would be the last thing to say to the reader,
in my eleventh volume of the novel “Alternative History”? Maybe Alexandr
Korol — that is, the hero of the book — has found a way out and is leaving?
