In scholarly literature — both ancient and modern — numerous attempts have been made to reconstruct Plato’s world soul through “musical-mathematical” models. The resulting scale in such reconstructions is called Plato’s “cosmic scale”. The earliest interval calculations are attributed to an anonymous author from the Hellenistic era, whom Nicomachus (drawing on Plato himself) refers to as Timaeus of Locri; one of the latest reconstructions was proposed by Stefan Hagel.
