Chapter 15. 144 is Home

Something else I wanted to add… I’m looking through my notes and records
from the past week. Something very important that needed to be captured
in the 10th volume of “Alternative History” is the fact that the voice — the
aliens — forbade me from using social media. They scared me by saying that
there is a “jammer” there. They literally just said, “There is a jammer there,”
and that was it. Since this wasn’t part of a back-and-forth discussion, I
didn’t get to ask for details. If we had been debating it, I probably would have
asked what kind of jammer it is and why social media is off-limits. But at
that moment, I was listening to their advice regarding my own situation and
my “polishing,” and right in the middle of the dialogue, they said: “Under no
circumstances open social media. There is a jammer there.” They said it’s as
if I would lose my connection with them, that people are being “jammed”
there. I just said “Okay,” and that was it. Our conversation continued on the
topic of my inner work, so I didn’t press for specifics. But since that moment,
I haven’t opened a single social network. Before, I might have glanced in
just to use it as an archive or to personally publish a book, but they told me
not to even open them, so I don’t. I don’t know exactly what “they” meant,
but I took it literally and very seriously.

And here is the most curious part. Since childhood, in all my books — even
the drafts — I’ve touched upon the main theme of my life: paradoxes. The idea
that signs are always appearing, paradoxical things that suggest nothing is
accidental. Take the number 144. It’s not just that it won’t leave me alone; I have
never in my life seen as many signs as I have with the number 144 over the last
week. It’s in everything: a bill, a text message, my bank balance — it’ll be 1-4-
4-4 and so on. The key is that the number starts with 1-4-4. It’s everywhere:
on clocks, on cars, everywhere — 144, 144, 144. Even if it’s a long number,
like 14457989..., those first three digits are always there. I go to heat up a
sandwich in the microwave, and the time blinking is 1:44. Do you understand?
Everywhere. During this week leading up to September 8th, it’s happened
maybe ten times a day. It’s even on the jacket of a lead actor in a movie. Now,
I’m not talking about numbers where it’s buried in the middle, like 514492.
