It shows different dimensions: there is a place where the disappeared
people went — that is one world, not the world of the dead. And then there
is the world of the dead, where you end up only when you die. It’s also very
interesting how they showed where those who disappeared actually went.
If you stand in their position and look through their eyes, you see where they
ended up and how they perceive where everyone else went. This is very curious.
Because there is a great deal of truth in this — how reality splits differently for
everyone. I’ve always hinted at this in the book: when something happens, for
some people it won’t happen, and they will think it didn’t happen for anyone.
But for other people, something will happen, and they’ll think it happened
for everyone, when in reality it only happened for them. And people will
never be able to link these two things together.

You know, when I watched this series — if you don’t perceive it in a 100%
categorical, literal way — you must pay attention: whoever is going to watch
this series now absolutely must do so while reading the tenth volume
of “Alternative History” in parallel. There, they show people, and how
everyone has gone mad, but in different ways. Various sects appeared;
people in white appeared who walk around with cigarettes and don’t speak;
other “chosen” prophets appeared; everyone started “imagining” things.
A huge number of people appeared who no longer want to live, who lost their
children — like that woman who puts on a bulletproof vest and asks people
to shoot her. Everyone went mad in their own way. This series is actually not
about the end of the world; I believe it is truly dedicated to those people who
have survived and are surviving the loss of a loved one. Because someone
who hasn’t experienced that yet doesn’t know what it’s like. And this series
shows it very well — how a person’s life comes to a standstill, or how the
meaning of life is lost in everything, how after such a loss a person doesn’t
understand whether they should continue living or not, and whether that
loved one can be replaced by someone else. Or whether it is worth forgetting
that person or not. And you know, it shows that after what happened
on October 14th in that series — they remember it, the anniversaries pass —
but the world can never be as it was before. Something happened,
and that’s it; the world is no longer the same, and the people are no longer
