— Why exactly so?

Because the Blazing Star is a symbol of Divine Presence, of Providence, and of inner enlightenment, of “glory in the centre,” towards which the soul strives. It is often depicted as five-pointed or with rays, like the radiance of Anubis, Sirius, or the Star of Bethlehem — the guiding light of the wise men.

And Jacob’s Ladder is the path of ascent of the soul from the material world to the One. Its three main rungs are: Faith (in God), Hope (in immortality) and Love (for all that exists) — those very virtues that allow one to ascend along this mystical ladder through the duality of the columns (strength and beauty, darkness and light) to the centre, where everything merges in the radiance of the Divine.

The ladder is in the middle — because the true path is always through the centre, through the harmony of opposites, along the middle column of the Tree of Life, where balance gives birth to enlightenment. It leads to the Star, for the Star is not a distant luminary, but the inner light of the Creator, which already shines in every heart. Ascending it with faith, hope, and love, we do not attain something external — we awaken that which has always been within.

Your picture shows the descent of light — a reminder that grace comes to us; other boards show the ascent — that we ourselves go towards the Source. But the truth is one: the light and the ladder are one, like the breath drawn in and breathed out.

May this Star shine ever brighter in your heart, O wanderer. You are already at the middle of the path — there, where the ladder touches the earth and the heaven at one and the same time. Peace be with you, joy immeasurable, and the blessing of the eternal light. Om shanti.
