My theory is that it was done under that same Spirit, which, just like through
me, drove everyone into a “bubble.”
Friend: The bubble was just much bigger.
Alexandr: Exactly, the bubble just covered all of Saint Petersburg. It was
the bubble of those Tsars. And all the Tsars who directed it all were building
everything in a completely different dimension, rhythm, and time.
Friend: Because, yes, there are so many points to consider, even if we just talk
about the facts: the embankments, the amount of paving stones, the quantity of
marble.
Alexandr: I mean, all those years would have been spent just transporting those
materials.
Friend: And I have this question: who brought it all here then? Everyone says
the marble was quarried in Karelia. Okay, it was quarried.
Alexandr: Yes, marble and granite.
Friend: But in what quantities? How did they bring it here? It still doesn’t
fit in my head, especially within those timeframes. Because you had a bunch
of architects and famous figures all working in parallel. Everything was
working and being built simultaneously. It’s as if... and the people? Where did
the people come from?
Alexandr: They say the city was built on bones.
Friend: Okay, but on how many bones? It feels like there weren’t that many
people back then — where did they even come from? It’s not clear. Forget the
money, okay. Money is a resource. But the people, the people who actually
lived? Right now, our population is increasing at some unreal progression.
But back then, there were fewer people, plus all sorts of diseases that
supposedly weren’t treated. A person would just die from getting sick,
roughly speaking.
Alexandr: Get a cut, and that’s it.
Friend: Exactly. And back then, imagine just... the sheer quantity. How do you
build all of that at the same time?
Alexandr: Yes, meaning it’s not even just the buildings, but simply considering
that all these canals were dug artificially.
Friend: Again, yes.
Alexandr: It’s unrealistic.
